4 Restaurant Chains With the Best Antipasto, According to Chefs

[[{“value”:”Antipasto is the ideal balance of salty, acidic and meaty flavors that’s perfect for a light meal or a satisfying appetizer. When done right, it’s bright with textures and elements, and brings a taste of Italy to your table.
“A great antipasto should offer plenty of variety in every bite, combining savory cured meats, cheeses, vegetables and other Italian favorites,” says Dennis Littley, Chef and Culinary Expert at Ask Chef Dennis. “I also look for a good balance of textures and flavors, because antipasto should be more than just a plate of ingredients—it should get the meal started on the right note.”
There are plenty of Italian chains that serve antipasto, but here are four of the best ones, according to Chef Dennis.

Buca di Beppo – Chopped Antipasti Salad

Buca di Beppo is known for its generous family-style portions, and the Chopped Antipasti Salad definitely comes in a big portion, but there’s also a serving for one.
“Buca di Beppo’s Chopped Antipasti Salad brings all those classic Italian flavors together in a hearty salad,” says Chef Dennis. “It has the savory, salty ingredients you expect from antipasto, but with fresh greens that make it a lighter way to begin the meal.”

    Carmine’s – Cold Antipasto

While I’ve only dined at the Carmine’s at Times Square in New York City, it was a joyous occasion I’ll never forget. The service was impeccable, the old-school Italian decor was charming, and the food presentation was impressive. Plus, the dishes were as flavorful and satisfying as you’d expect. I did not have the Cold Antipasto, but Chef Dennis says it’s a must-try.
“Carmine’s Cold Antipasto is the kind of appetizer that belongs in the middle of the table, where everyone can dig in and sample a little of everything,” he says.  “With classic Italian ingredients and plenty of variety, it’s a traditional start to a family-style meal.”

    North Italia – Chef’s Board

According to the website, the Chef’s Board at North Italia includes prosciutto di Parma, speck, stracciatella & black truffle honey, pecorino stagionato, Campari-glazed nuts, marinated olives, giardiniera, fig jam, and Chef Dennis highly recommends it.
“North Italia takes the antipasto concept and turns it into a beautiful selection of Italian-inspired meats, cheeses, and accompaniments,” he says. “It’s ideal for sharing and gives you a combination of rich, salty, creamy, and briny flavors that pair especially well with a glass of wine.”

Caffé Aldo Lamberti – Antipasto Rustico

On the dinner menu, Caffé Aldo Lamberti offers an Antipasto Rustico that Chef Dennis says doesn’t disappoint.
“Caffé Aldo Lamberti offers the kind of traditional Italian approach that makes antipasto such a popular way to begin a meal,” he says. “A well-prepared antipasto should give you a taste of what’s to come, with a variety of savory flavors that make you want to keep coming back for another bite.”
