Sen. Ron Wyden, the ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee, has been working diligently to investigate the finances of Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking operation. In August, he published a report with evidence that JPMorgan Chase, Deutsche Bank, and Bank of America executives enabled Epstein’s sex trafficking by “looking the other way.” He also found evidence that the banks “violated federal anti-money laundering laws by failing to screen and report at least $1.4 billion worth of Epstein’s suspicious financial transactions in a timely manner.”
Now, Wyden says his staff investigators recently learned that a key financial document has been withheld by Kash Patel’s FBI and Todd Blanche’s Department of Justice, in violation of the Epstein Files Transparency Act.
The missing document is an “FBI 302” report on an interview the bureau conducted with a banker tied to Epstein. Wyden has now demanded that report in a September 30 letter to Patel and Blanche.
Worse, this strongly suggests that the DOJ and FBI are covering up even more documents they are obligated to release under the EFTA.
