How much Nvidia stock does CEO Jensen Huang actually own?

Jensen Huang is one of the wealthiest people in the world, as the company he founded in 1993, Nvidia, has benefited from its pivot toward artificial intelligence in the past decade. As of early October 2026, his net worth is estimated at around $200 billion, according to Forbes.

Huang’s wealth is largely based on his stake in Nvidia. Here’s a closer look at how many shares he owns in the tech giant, what they’re worth, and how he accumulated his stock.

How much of Nvidia does Jensen Huang own?

Huang owned 870 million shares, equating to 3.58% of the company, as of March 23, 2026, according to Nvidia’s 2026 proxy statement. Those shares were worth $201 billion as of an early October 2026 share price of $231.49.

Is Jensen Huang the largest individual shareholder of Nvidia?

As an executive officer who must disclose his beneficial ownership in Nvidia, Huang is the largest known individual (non-institutional) Nvidia shareholder, with a 3.58% stake.

However, under SEC rules, individual investors who own less than 5% of a publicly traded company aren’t required to disclose their ownership stake. So, it is possible that there are other individual investors who own stakes larger than Huang’s but less than 5% and therefore aren’t required to disclose that information.

    Nvidia’s largest institutional shareholders

Nvidia’s largest shareholders with a 5% or more stake are institutional investors, including BlackRock (7.43%) and Vanguard Capital Management (7.31%), according to the company’s 2026 proxy statement data.

How & when did Jensen Huang accumulate his Nvidia stock?

Huang was a founder of Nvidia when it was established in 1993. In 1999, the year before the company conducted its first of six stock splits, Huang owned 2.9 million shares, which constituted a 9.9% stake. His most recently reported stake in Nvidia was 3.58%, indicating that he has sold some shares since then.

Had he kept all of his shares reported in 1999 today, Huang would have held almost 2.8 billion shares (adjusted for stock splits) from 2000 to 2024.

Huang also receives additional shares for meeting the company’s internal performance-based targets.

How much NVDA stock does Jensen Huang get as part of his compensation package?

In Nvidia’s fiscal 2025, Huang received $35.5 million in compensation, which was a combination of cash and stock. (The company’s fiscal year typically runs from February to January.)

Huang’s compensation included $1.5 million in base salary, a $3 million cash bonus, and $31 million in equity in the form of 936,771 performance stock units (PSUs).
