[[{“value”:”If onion rings are on a menu, I’m always tempted to order them. I love an onion ring done right: onion rings dipped in batter and deep-fried until crispy. Not every restaurant does the side-slash-app right. Nothing is worse than a bag order of rings, usually defined by non-existent onion slices, tasteless breading, or, even worse, a soggy ring. Where should you order them? Here are 5 restaurant chains with the best onion rings, according to diners.

    Whataburger

Whataburger’s onion rings are the most hyped of all fast-food chains. “Whataburger has the best onion rings I’ve ever had,” a Redditor claims. “I like onions but I’ve never been a huge fan of onion rings, this has changed everything lol. It’s so good.” “It’s even better when you dip it in the spicy ketchup!! The tempura batter REALLY elevates the ring,” another chimes in. “Whataburger has the best onion rings hands down,” a third adds. “Agreed. You can order them extra crispy and they are better imo. I prefer more crispy, savory and salty onion rings as opposed to the breadcrumb type and the sweet tempura type,” a Redditor responded.

    Dairy Queen

Dairy Queen’s onion rings are a popular, crispy side item.”The best fast food onion rings by a mile, imo,” a Redditor says. “DQ’s onion rings are top tier!” another agrees. “The onion rings are great. They aren’t processed onions. They are just battered fried rings,” another states.

    Red Robin

Red Robin is famous for its gourmet, towering onion rings, available in various sizes. “The onion rings at Red Robin are amazing! Always get them as the appetizer,” a Redditor says. “RR’s onion ring is good. Like that they serve it in a tower. Keeps all the rings separated and crunchy,” adds another.

    Freddy’s Frozen Custard

Freddy’s Frozen Custard’s battered onion rings are another tasty favorite. “Had Freddy’s for the first time in Arkansas a while back and was shocked at how good it was,” another said. “Freddy’s Steakburgers has some of the best onion rings in the fast food business,” a Redditor claims. “Freddy’s onion rings are bomb,” another agrees.

    Portillo’s

If you are in the Midwest, order onion rings alongside your Italian beef sandwich or Chicago-style hot dog. “Portillo’s has pretty good onion rings,” a Redditor says. “For real. I always get their onion rings instead of fries. So much better,” another adds.
