At this point, I think I’ve seen more coverage of why the Trade Deadline isn’t lit than actual content involving Trade Deadline deals. There are some teams that do need to move guys because there’s just no benefit (not even a Qualifying Offer) to not moving the players on expiring contracts they have, so things will likely pick up eventually. I guess the question is, “When?”
And, on top of that, there’s a separate question of whether the run-up to the Monday deadline will be akin to the silly season we sometimes see, where the time pressure pushes teams away from prudence (or at least recalcitrance) and towards desperation. But, before we get there, we have to see whether anything actually happens this weekend.
