Buying a new piece of furniture can be as daunting as buying a new car, and both usually involve pushy salesmen hungry for a commission. And like a new vehicle, a good couch can be devastating on your bank account, though it’s usually an investment you can count on for years if not decades. However, not all couches worth splurging on require the massive upfront cost, dealing with salesmen, and, of course, the dread that comes with assembling a new piece of furniture.
The Neche 68-Inch Corduroy Sofa retails for $390, but you can shop it at Walmart right now on sale for just $229. When was the last time you paid that little for any piece of furniture, let alone a couch? Shoppers love this cozy number, calling it “surprisingly roomy.”

Why do shoppers love it?
Aside from avoiding the usual pratfalls that come with driving to a furniture store, getting the hard sell from a salesman, and then lugging a heavy box home that requires a week’s worth of elbow grease to put together, this couch is, more importantly, comfortable and attractive. Its corduroy top makes it stand out, and its wooden base gives it a charming modern aesthetic.
Of course, like a mattress, it’s what’s on the inside that counts. The inside of this couch’s cushions is a one/two punch of elastic springs and high-density sponge, so it’s comfortable enough to sit in all day alone or curled up against a loved one. It fares equally well if you decide to sprawl across it for a rejuvenating afternoon nap.
What sets this couch apart from many similar models is its attractive wood base, which is made from FSC-certified wood sourced from responsibly managed forests. Plus, the legs feature a non-slip protective backing that won’t scuff up your floors.

“It’s soft and comfortable while still being supportive,” one shopper said. “The size is perfect for two people and could even fit three in a pinch. The elevated legs make it easy to clean underneath and create visual space.”
This couch will arrive in parts, and you will need to assemble the wooden base. The cushions, however, will arrive vacuum-sealed and compressed. Once you open them, it’s recommended that you allow them to “breathe” for 24 to 48 hours, when they will magically inflate to full size.
