At his Michigan rally on Sunday, Donald J. Trump took a minute to unleash a rant bashing Norway during another Nobel Peace Prize tantrum, calling it a “shithouse country.” The crybaby president is turning international diplomacy into a personal Yelp review.
“I’m not in love with Norway,” Trump said. “Frankly, Norway sucks.”
“Anybody that would like to come into our country from Denmark, I’m all for it, but I must tell you, from Somalia, I’m sort of, I’ve had it with them,” he continued. “I’ve had it with them. I much prefer Denmark, I must say.”
“They’ll say, isn’t that a terrible thing?” he said. “No, it’s just, we got to be honest with each other, don’t we? Denmark, we’ll take them.”
“Sweden, Norway, I don’t think so, because I didn’t get the Nobel Prize even though I ended it,” he added. “Think of it: I settled, so I’m not in love with Norway. Frankly, Norway sucks. Norway has become a shithouse country, actually.”
According to Norwegian broadcaster NRK, Norway’s foreign minister, Espen Barth Eide, responded to Trump’s remarks on Monday by explaining that the Nobel committee operates independently of the government. “He knows very well that the Nobel committee is independent,” Eide said. “We have reminded him of that, in case anyone is wondering, and that is still the case.”
