Hey, media. You don’t need a White House pass to report the obvious: Something is seriously wrong with a president who cannot stay awake during his own televised press event, as Aaron Rupar points out below.
During the moments he was able to stay awake, Donald Trump boasted about his new Medicaid drug program: “This one thing alone should win us the midterms.” Yeah, don’t count on it, sleepyhead, especially since your stupid war is poised to make Trumpflation worse than ever.
Of course, the whole thing was another load of Trump BS bluster. Frankly, the details laid out by The New York Times make my eyes glaze over. But here’s the bottom line: It is another Trump “charade,” as Public Citizen explained. Besides, “Americans covered under Medicaid already pay only a few dollars, or nothing at all, to fill their prescription drugs. That won’t change under the new model,” The Times noted.
Regardless, the fact that a president can’t stay awake during his own dog-and-pony show should be big news, especially on top of a phony “accomplishment.” Whether or not Trump believed his own hype, any president halfway fit for office should have been able to stay awake.
