Donald Trump’s idiotic order to rename Lake Ontario, as well as his daydreaming about renaming the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, are sick and repulsive. But the jokes mocking him have been quite funny and enjoyable. Even better, they hit Trump where it hurts: at the heart of his narcissistic posturing as a great dictator.
On Thursday night, Rep. Jamie Raskin piled on. He paused an MS Now discussion about a judge’s ruling that halted Trump’s sabotage of mail-in voting to get in his own dig at Trump’s vanity.
Raskin’s target was Trump’s shockingly botched “renovation” of the Lincoln Reflecting Pool.
“Let’s go with what we call it down here in the DMV, the Strait of Warm Ooze,” Raskin said. “How about that?”
“You win on hydronyms today,” host Lawrence O’Donnell replied, laughing.
In my last post, I noted that Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers mocked Trump with an “order,” written on a napkin, renaming Lake Michigan as “Lake Wisconsin.” Governor JB Pritzker renamed Trump Tower “Natalie Tower.”
