    Why we love this deal

Although there are some shoppers who look forward to the latest launches and drops from tech brands, the times of year when they show off the latest tablet and laptop models, most of us don’t want to buy a new device every time an upgraded version hits the market. For most people, a laptop, tablet, or 2-in-1 device is used to tackle schoolwork, work tasks, pay bills, schedule appointments, or simply stream our favorite shows in between. We don’t need extra accessories or extra capabilities that cause more confusion than clarity. Shoppers want clarity, convenience, and a device that doesn’t require a manual to learn how to use, and right now at Amazon, the HP Essential Laptop 2026 is a great model on sale that checks off all those boxes.

The 14-inch screen, which originally sells for $660, is on sale for 50% off during a limited-time Amazon deal. You can save $330 and get this 2026 model for only $330 during this temporary discount deal if you act now.

    Why do shoppers love it?

With a 4 gigabyte random access memory (GB RAM) and a 128 gigabyte solid-state drive (SSD), this laptop is more average than over-the-top but that doesn’t mean it can’t multitask efficiently and help you do exactly what you need to. Although it can’t handle multiple (and by multiple we mean 10+) windows open at once, you can jump between tasks and apps, creating content, writing papers, browsing the web, and streaming movies or listening to music easily and without buffering or lagging. Although the RAM is on the smaller side, the 128 GB SSD helps make up for it by providing fast boot up times, quick app loading, and most importantly, a decent amount of storage space to securely store your files, photos, and other documents. That said, if you are planning to use the laptop for gaming purposes, looking to store large video files, or use it for heavy professional purposes, you might want to consider a different model.

Measuring 12.76 inches long, 8.86 inches wide, and 0.71 inches thick, the laptop is on the smaller size, making it more portable and easier to travel or commute with. The screen, which measures 14 inches on the diagonal, has a 1366×768 pixel micro-edge anti-glare display with a 79% screen-to-body ratio that reduces reflections and eye strain during extended use. The dual speakers deliver clear audio, and the HP true vision camera, which has temporal noise reduction and dual-array digital microphones, make it easy to take video calls and meetings wherever you are.

The computer’s battery life varies depending on what you’re doing. It can run up to 11 hours of video playback on a single charge, and up to 7.5 hours with mixed usage — web browsing, work, streaming etc. With a pre-installed Windows 11 Home operating system, you get immediate access to a one-year subscription of Microsoft 365. This gives you access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneDrive cloud storage. You also can use Microsoft Copilot, which acts as an AI-powered assistant tool for even more efficient productivity.

If you prefer a model that has a larger hard drive, this HP version does have a 500 GB hard drive option with more expandable storage. Originally $1,079, it is now on sale for 63% off right now — another great option if the smaller version isn’t quite fitting your needs.

    Details to know

Dimensions: The laptop measures 12.76 inches long, 8.86 inches wide, and 0.71 inches thick. The screen measures 14 inches on the diagonal.

    Processor: Intel N150 processor.

    Operating system: Windows 11 Home.

Storage: 4GB RAM and 128 GB SSD.

Battery life: Up to 11 hours.

Shoppers really love the affordability of this model compared to competitors, and are impressed with its battery life, fast running speeds, and storage space. A “great bang for your buck” runs easily with no lagging or freezing, and it’s easy to use. “This laptop exceeded my expectations,” one shopper said. “It runs everything I throw at it.”
