How much AMD stock does CEO Lisa Su actually own?

Lisa Su joined Advanced Micro Devices in 2012, and two years later she was appointed CEO. She helped turn the financially struggling fabless chipmaker around by focusing on artificial intelligence and data centers. Toward the later part of 2026, AMD’s market capitalization was nearing $1 trillion

Along the way, she was awarded large amounts of stock. Between her growing stake in the company (and its growing stock price), Su joined the ranks of tech CEO billionaires in 2024.

Here’s how many AMD shares Su owns, and how she accumulated her holdings.

How much of AMD does Lisa Su own?

Lisa Su owned 3.6 million shares, directly and indirectly via trusts, according to a September 2026 SEC filing. That equates to a 0.2% stake in the company. Those shares were valued at over $2 billion, as of a mid-October 2026 share price of around $562.23.

Is Lisa Su the largest individual shareholder of AMD?

Lisa Su holds a larger AMD stake than any of the company’s other current executives. The company insider with the next-largest stake is the company’s Chief Technology Officer, Mark D. Papermaster, who owned 1,674,673 shares (less than half as many as Su) as of an August 2026 SEC filing.

Lisa Su may also be the biggest individual shareholder of AMD, but it is hard to say for sure. There may be individual shareholders who own more than she does, but if so, their ownership is less than 5%, and as such, they aren’t required by SEC rules to disclose that information publicly.

    AMD’s largest institutional shareholders

Institutions own the vast majority of AMD’s stock, amounting to almost 83% of the total 1.63 billion in outstanding shares, according to Nasdaq. The Vanguard Group owned about 9.7%, and BlackRock owned about 9.2%, based on institutional holding data compiled by Nasdaq.

How & when did Lisa Su accumulate her AMD stock?

Lisa Su joined AMD as a senior vice president in 2012, and she quickly rose through the ranks to become CEO in 2014. Along the way, she was granted stock awards and performance-based restricted stock units (PRSUs).

In 2013, when she completed her first year at AMD, she was awarded 446,399 shares, according to the company’s 2013 proxy statement.

How much AMD stock does Lisa Su get as part of her compensation package?

In 2012, Lisa Su was paid $575,000 as a senior vice president, but stock awards and a cash bonus pushed up her total compensation to $6 million. About half of that compensation was in stock awards and a third of the total in stock options. By 2013, she held more than 400,000 shares.

As CEO in 2014, Su’s salary rose to $850,000, but her executive incentives increased significantly. In 2015, the board of directors approved PRSUs with a target number of 1.475 million shares, as well as additional stock awards.

In 2025, Su had a salary of $1.291 million, but her compensation, including stock awards, totaled $55 million, AMD’s 2026 proxy statement showed.
