    E. Jean Carroll demands her money from Trump — with interest

This week, the U.S Supreme Court refused to weigh in on President Donald Trump’s defamation case from E. Jean Carroll that cost him a multi-million-dollar judgement in more than one case. Now, he’s got to pay up.

The Daily Beast reported on Wednesday that after Trump lost his final effort to hold off Carroll, she wants her money.

Carroll accused Trump of assaulting her in a Bergdorf Goodman department store in the 1990s and Trump spent years calling her a liar and attacking her personally. Finally, she sued for defamation.

In a Tuesday-night filing, Carroll’s lawyer asked the judge to step in and order Trump turn over the cash.

“Accordingly, the Court should direct the Clerk to disburse to Carroll the value of the judgment, including post-judgment interest, which amounts to $5,779,783.00 in total as of the date of this filing,” the filing says, according to legal analyst Adam Klasfeld of “All Rise News.”

“Defendant’s counsel contacted Carroll’s undersigned counsel to inquire whether Carroll would consent to a further stay of enforcement of the judgment in this action so that Defendant can ask the Supreme Court to reconsider its denial of certiorari in her case,” Carroll’s lawyer, Roberta Kaplan, said.

“[A]fter four years of litigation across every level of the federal court system, it is time for this case to end. And under the Court’s Stipulation and Order, Carroll is now entitled to obtain payment of the money due under the judgment,” she added.

There are currently two judgments for Trump, with the possibility of more. The first came in 2019 and the second filed in 2022. The second ended up in court first, which resulted in a judgment of $5 million. In the earlier case, the jury not only ruled for Carroll, but it also awarded her $83.3 million.

The Beast explained that the math means that Trump now owes Carroll more than $100 million. While the Supreme Court turned down the second judgment, it’s expected that Trump will appeal to the Supreme Court in his larger case as well. In September, a New York appeals court ruled against his appeal.

His appeals to Carroll, but it also makes the interest climb.
