    Costco adds popular fast food product to lineup

    One of the biggest reasons shoppers love wandering the wide aisles of Costco is simple — you never quite know what you’re going to find. Yes, the warehouse giant is built on staples like bulk paper goods, cleaning products, and Kirkland Signature essentials. But part of its appeal has always been the constant churn of new, limited-time, and unexpected products that rotate in and out.That sense of discovery is not an accident. Rather, it’s a core part of Costco’s identity. Costco has long used changing inventory and seasonal drops to keep members engaged and coming back more frequently, even if they didn’t originally plan on a shopping trip. And that strategy is clearly working. During its most recent operating quarter, Costco reported a 14% year-over-year increase in net income. Comparable sales rose 7.4%.Meanwhile, Costco’s latest addition leans directly into that treasure hunt-style strategy, especially for fast food fans.A fast-food favorite lands at CostcoPeople who frequent Chick-fil-A are typically intimately familiar with the chain’s signature sauce. Now, fans don’t have to venture over to Chick-fil-A to get it.Costco recently launched a Chick-fil-A Signature Sauce Set. The three-pack includes: Classic Chick-fil-A SauceHoney Mustard SaucePolynesian SauceNot surprisingly, it’s selling for an incredibly reasonable $8.59. Chick-fil-A describes its classic dipping sauce as having “notes of mustard and a smoky tang.” And it’s a big reason fans tend to frequent the fast food chain.It’s unclear as to whether the Chick-fil-A Signature Sauce Set is here to stay or is a limited-time offering — something Costco is also known for.

    A smart move for CostcoSome Costco members might find the company’s habit of rotating products frustrating — especially when favorites disappear. But there’s a big reason Costco manages inventory the way it does.Costco understands consumer psychology. When items aren’t guaranteed to stick around, members are more likely to buy them. Costco also isn’t quiet about its treasure hunt-style approach to inventory. It actually explains its logic on its website. “One of the most exciting things about shopping in our warehouses is you never know the kind of incredible deals you’ll find from one visit to the next!””Costco members know the trick to getting the best value on exclusive or one-time-buy merchandise: Visit often! And, because we rotate out and introduce new merchandise all the time, we encourage you to purchase items that interest you sooner rather than later to avoid missing out.”Of course, low prices are also a driver of impulse buys at Costco.
