According to documents published by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California, MK Phoenix Airport LLC filed for Chapter 11 protection in the court on Oct. 8.
Despite the reference to Phoenix in its name and base in Arizona, the limited liability company is the operator behind only the La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham in Anaheim in California. The company is also not related to aviation despite the word “airport” in its name.

The court filing reports that the company has between $10 million to $50 million in assets and as much in liabilities. In the filing, MK Phoenix Airport LLC says that it will have no available funds to pay unsecured creditors after administrative expenses related to the lawsuit.
Further information beyond that, including whether the company plans to restructure or shut down and what led it to a financial situation in which it was forced to file for bankruptcy, is currently not publicly available. Wyndham could not be immediately reached for comment on the situation but the La Quinta Inn & Suites in Anaheim is marked as “permanently closed” on Google.

The Wyndham page for the property now also redirects to a broken link although much of the situation remains mired in mystery.
