With two games remaining until the All-Star break, the Atlanta Braves have announced a number of roster moves ahead of tonight’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
The most notable is outfielder Mike Yastrzemski on the 10-day IL with left elbow inflammation. Taking his spot on the roster is outfield Brewer Hicklen. The team also optioned pitcher James Karinchak to Triple-A and recalled pitcher Owen Murphy from Gwinnett.
Additionally, the team outrighted outfielder Jose Azocar to Gwinnett and transferred pitcher AJ Smith-Shawver’s rehabilitation assignment to the Stripers.
Yastrzemski was Atlanta’s top position player free agent signee. He’s suffered through less-than-average season so far with Atlanta. Hicklen has appeared in 10 career big league games across three seasons with three different organizations, debuting in 2022.
