Air Force Major Jason Watson stood on the steps of the United States Capitol, in uniform, on July 1st, holding a sign that read “Impeach. Convict. Remove.” during a press conference, where he openly called for both President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance to be removed from office, citing the US military actions in Venezuela, Cuba, and Iran.

Maj. Watson was arrested on that day and, according to his attorney, has now spent two months in 24-hour solitary confinement.

Following his arrest, the D.C. attorney general’s office dropped the city’s charges against Maj. Watson, but Military Times confirmed that he was taken from the courthouse directly into Air Force custody, where he remains to this day.

In an August 17 interview with CNN, Watson doubled down in his criticism of the current administration, which earned him pretrial confinement the very next day, citing “continued misconduct” as probable cause.

His attorney, Christopher Mutimer, spoke with CNN and confirmed that Maj. Watson is “still in solitary confinement 24 hours a day.”
