Big Bad Breakfast
For a restaurant centered around Southern-style breakfast, this combination feels right at home on the menu at Big Bad Breakfast.
“Big Bad Breakfast does Southern breakfast particularly well, and chicken and waffles is a great example,” Buchanan shares. “The seasoned fried chicken brings plenty of savory flavor on its own, while the waffle and syrup add the sweetness that makes the combination work.”
IHOP
The familiar breakfast chain puts its own spin on the pairing, bringing together fried chicken and a Belgian-style waffle.
“IHOP’s Chicken & Waffles combines crispy chicken with the chain’s Belgian waffle, which has crisp edges and a fluffy center,” Buchanan says. “That contrast between crunchy chicken and a soft waffle is a big part of what makes chicken and waffles so good in the first place.”
Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles
Few names are as closely associated with chicken and waffles as Roscoe’s, a longtime Los Angeles-area institution built around the delicious plate.
“Roscoe’s has been serving fried chicken and waffles in Southern California since 1975, so this isn’t just another breakfast item added to the menu,” she says. “There are several chicken-and-waffle combinations to choose from, including different pieces of fried chicken, which gives you more choice than you’ll find at most chains.”
Another Broken Egg Cafe
Another Broken Egg Cafe brings the dish into its Southern-leaning breakfast lineup, where it fits naturally alongside its other morning favorites.According to Buchanan, “Another Broken Egg Cafe takes a Southern approach to breakfast, and chicken and waffles fits right into that.” She adds, “The crisp, salty fried chicken against a warm waffle and sweet syrup gives you all three flavors and textures in the same bite.”
