    Researchers validated an 1877 anatomical hypothesis by confirming that a rare surface “bridge” across the central fissure occurs in 0.8% of humans and is an extension of normal deep-lying brain folds. The study also revealed a higher prevalence in twins, proving the variant is driven by early environmental factors in the womb rather than genetics.
